Bonefish, the gray ghost-These silver missiles with fins have blazing speed giving them the ability to remove 200 yards of line from your reel in the blink of an eye. Also being able to camouflage themselves and being wary of their surroundings make them truly a challenge. You need the stealthy approach & & accurate casting to catch these heart stoppers, Bonefish are taken on light tackle, spinning rods, and 8 & 9 wt. fly rods.
Permit- these fish are truly our toughest fish to catch. These fish inhabit the deeper edges of the flats in search of crabs and shrimp. The lengthy battle sometimes seems never ending. Taken on light tackle and 8 & 9 wt. fly.
Tarpon- "Silver King" Beginning about April, these large fish migrate throughout the Keys and peak around May and are still here till late June. Average fish size 60-150 lbs. Smaller fish 10-60 lbs. Can be caught most of the year mainly on live bait providing weather and the fish Gods are on our side. These fish put on an unbelievable aerial performance. The battle with one of our silver kings can last from 30 minutes to well over an hour. Whether a novice or seasoned angler, you can do this! Tarpon are fished for with live bait on light tackle and 10 & 12 wt. fly rods
Redfish & Snook - These fish are our targeted species of the Everglades National Park. Reds and Snook can be a bit more user friendly for sight casters. Reds cruise the flats looking for crabs, shrimp and small bait fish. The snook are also found on the flats laying to ambush its prey. Lots of snook are caught with live bait and lures, casting along the mangrove islands. It's a bit to start your day with the scenic ride into the Everglades. Reds and snook can be taken on light tackle or 8 &9 wt. fly rod.
Trout- These speckled beauties are our fun fish to catch. They can provide a bit more action for all anglers. This is a bit more relaxed style of fishing & the accurate cast and vision needed with other species is not required. Along with trout, we also get the jacks and ladyfish. This also requires our scenic boat ride into the Everglades. A camera is a must to help remember the wildlife and surrounding mangrove islands. These fish are all taken on light tackle or 8 & wt. fly rod.
Sharks and Barracudas- The flats also offer these toothy critters. The barracudas slashing attack when striking your bait is sure to get the heart started. The larger cudas are more actively pursued in the Winter months. Sharks come in different sizes and types. Bonnetheads, along with the Lemon, Bull and Blacktip are the sharks you'll mostly likely encounter. They range from 5 lbs to well over 100 lbs. Cudas as well as sharks are taken on 8 to 12 wt. fly rods.
